DELAND, Fla. – The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a deadly two-vehicle crash that caused roadblocks in DeLand.

The crash happened just before 8 a.m. Tuesday at the intersection of State Road 44 (New York Avenue) and Shell Road, troopers said.

As stated in a preliminary FHP crash report, evidence suggests that the collision involved two automobiles: a 2018 Toyota Tacoma and a 2023 Dodge Ram 2500. The Toyota Tacoma’s driver, who is yet to be officially identified, was declared deceased at the scene.

The driver and passenger of the pick-up truck were transported to AdventHealth DeLand with non-life-threatening injuries, troopers said.

Both eastbound and westbound lanes of SR-44 at the intersection of Shell Road are blocked while troopers investigate.

    This crash remains under investigation.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
