Being the spouse of a soldier, or an MMA fighter is not an easy task as you constantly have to battle with the nerves that come with the territory. However, one individual has been able to gracefully navigate both positions and she is none other than Ginger Kennedy. Kennedy is an American media personality who is better known as the wife of former special ops soldier-turned-UFC fighter, Tim Kennedy. The couple has been married for several years during which Kennedy has capably supported her husband through two risky careers. Want to know more about this incredible lady? Then we have got all the necessary scoop right here.

Things You Need To Know About Ginger Kennedy

Early Life and Background Details

Ginger Kennedy was born in the United States of America. Her nationality is, therefore, American while her ethnicity is Caucasian. The media personality has not disclosed any details about her exact date of birth or place of birth. There is also a paucity of information with regards to her childhood, family background, and educational history. It is however obvious that she is quite educated seeing how well-spoken she is.

Ginger Kennedy’s Husband

Ginger Kennedy is married to Tim Kennedy who was born on the 1st day of September 1979 in San Luis, Obispo, California. He hails from a family of five comprising of his dad Mike, his mom, as well as two siblings. The fighter spent his formative years in California and attended Eagle Academy Private High School. He also studied criminal justice at Columbia University Missouri and received his bachelor’s degree in 2002. Tim Kennedy first dabbled into mixed martial arts while he was still in college. He took part in a total of 31 amateur fights, between 1996 and 2001, and won an impressive 30.

The California native turned pro in 2001 and has since taken part in a total of 24 professional fights (18 wins and 6 losses). He has also won several laurels including UFC fight of the night, UFC knockout of the night, and Extreme Challenge Middleweight Tournament. Tim Kennedy is also a soldier; he signed up with the army in 2004 and undertook various training. Eventually, he made it to the Special Forces. The MMA fighter spent five years in the U.S. Army during which he served in places such as Iraq, Afghanistan, and the Sahel/Sahara region of Africa.

Family and Personal Life

It is not exactly known when Kennedy and her man first met or when they tied the knot. The couple has however enjoyed a blissful union and has three children together, comprising of two daughters and a son.

Ginger Kennedy has previously spoken out about the challenges of being married to a soldier and an MMA fighter. According to her, the two jobs are equally daunting despite the fact that they are different. For instance, even though a fight lasts only minutes, her husband gets cranky and edgy as his mind is preparing for a possibly traumatic event. He also has to cut a lot of weight and all this adds to the tension at home. Kennedy also revealed that what she misses most about his military life is the support system it offers. The US Army, Army Reserves and National Guard boast of a Family Readiness Group (FRG). This is a command-sponsored organization of family members, volunteers, soldiers and civilian employers who assist the families of soldiers in each unit.

Controversies

Ginger Kennedy has largely managed to keep her nose clean, unlike her husband. The MMA fighter caused a stir in May 2018 when he posted a video supporting the use of waterboarding by the US military. Tim’s video came in the wake of the controversy surrounding the nomination of Gina Haspel for the position of CIA director. Many people had opposed her emergency due to the fact that she oversaw the torture of detainees at a black site prison in Thailand.

Tim contributed his own ‘two cents’ by making a video of himself being waterboarded with garden hoses. His effort was however dismissed as it was done in a controlled voluntary setting by people he could stop at any time. His video was also said to have lacked the rendition, solitary confinement, stress positions, and sleep deprivation which defines the CIA’s broad interrogation program.
