Kenneth Ray “Ken” Lucas (born August 22, 1933) is a politician from the United States of America. In the United States Congress, Lucas represented Kentucky’s 4th congressional district from 1999 to 2005, serving as a Democrat. Lucas did not seek for reelection in 2004, keeping his pledge to serve no more than three terms in the House of Representatives. He did, however, run for re-election to his former congressional seat in 2006, losing to Geoff Davis, a Republican who had previously won the district in 2004. At the same time, popular Republican Senator Mitch McConnell cruised to a fourth term in a crucial midterm election season for Republicans, Lucas was barely victorious against Davis. Governor Steve Beshear named him to the position of Commissioner of the Kentucky Department of Veterans Affairs on February 2, 2009.
