Jacob Joachim “Jack” Klugman (April 27, 1922 – December 24, 2012) was an American actor who appeared on stage, in films, and on television. He was born in New York City.

Klugman started his professional career in 1950. Later in life, he went on to act in television and cinema, appearing in films such as 12 Angry Men (1957) and Cry Terror! (1958). (1958). During the 1960s, he appeared as a guest star on a number of television shows. In 1964, Klugman was nominated for his first Primetime Emmy Award for his guest-starring performance on the television series The Defenders. From 1960 to 1963, he also made a total of four appearances on the television series The Twilight Zone. Tony Randall co-starred with Klugman in the 1970 television version of The Odd Couple, in which the actor repeated his Broadway role of Oscar Madison. From 1970 until 1975, the show was shown on television. For his performance on the series, Klugman was awarded his second and third Primetime Emmy Awards, as well as a Golden Globe Award. In the television series Quincy, M.E., he played the title character from 1976 until 1983, for which he was nominated for four Primetime Emmy Award nominations. Klugman had been a smoker for a long time when he was diagnosed with throat cancer in 1974. In 1989, the cancer recurred again. A vocal chord was severed over the course of therapy, and Klugman now has a scratchy voice as a result of the loss. In 1953, Klugman tied the knot with actress Brett Somers. Before divorcing in 1974, the couple had two children together. Despite the fact that they never divorced, they were still married until Somers passed away in 2007. The next year, he tied the knot with Peggy Crosby, with whom he had been living since 1988.
