Jay Johnston Wiki Biography

Jay Johnston was born on 22 October 1968, in Chicago, Illinois USA, and is a comedian and actor, best known for being part of the HBO comedy sketch series “Mr. Show”, as a cast member and writer. He was also a part of “The Sarah Silverman Program” as Officer Jay McPherson. He’s been active in the entertainment industry since the 1990s, and all of his efforts have helped put his net worth to where it is today.

How rich is Jay Johnston? As of late-2017, sources estimate a net worth that is at $4 million, mostly earned through a successful career in comedy and acting, including appearing in numerous films over the course of his career. As he continues on, it is expected that his wealth will also continue to increase.

Jay attended Columbia College Chicago, and during his time there, he would study acting as well as comedy, and he would be a part of alumni which would later become a part of “Mr. Show”. After graduating, he joined the touring comedy group Second City for several years and also performed in stage shows. His first project would be “Mr. Show with Bob and David” which was a comedy sketch series starring Bob Odenkirk and David Cross playing semi-fictionalized versions of themselves. Jay did comedy based on universal themes and was responsible for creating many memorable characters as well as sketches. He also incorporated a lot of physical comedy in the show. More opportunities would start to open up for him and his net worth started to increase significantly.

After the run of “Mr. Show”, he would then appear as a guest in various television programs, including “Arrested Development”, “Parks and Recreation” and “Curb Your Enthusiasm”. He was also cast in films such as “Tenacious D in the Pick of Destiny” which starred Jack Black, and “Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy” which starred Will Ferrell.

In 2006, Johnston made regular appearances in the show “American Misfits” as “The Boss”, mainly appearing in the outro and intro sketch segments of the show. Afterwards, he was cast in “The Sarah Silverman Program” and would become a part of its entire run, playing Officer Jay McPherson, the love interest of Sarah’s sister Laura. The series also had several “Mr. Show” cast members. Two years after the end of “The Sarah Silverman Program” he then became a regular in the second series of “Nick Swardson’s Pretend Time”. The series ran on Comedy Central, but would end after the second series.

A few of Jay’s latest projects include the stop motion animated series “Moral Orel” which he worked on with Dino Stamatopoulos and Scott Adsit. He also voiced for the series “Mary Shelley’s Frankenhole”, and was part of the animated series “Bob’s Burgers” in which he plays the recurring role of Jimmy Pesto.

For his personal life, it is known that Johnston had a relationship with actress Paget Brewster, but nothing is known about any current relationship, and Jay is believed to be single.
