Chris Messina Net Worth $4 million

Chris found interest in acting at a young age and would study theatre while in high school. After matriculating, he attended Marymount Manhattan College but would drop out after just one semester. He then had private acting lessons before starting his career off-Broadway, but more opportunities opened up for him, and soon he would appear as a guest in various TV series such as “Medium”, “Law & Order”, and “Third Watch”. He also had a recurring role during the final season of “Six Feet Under”, in which he played Ted Fairwell – the HBO series gained a lot of critical acclaim and won numerous awards throughout its run. Chris also found several film roles which helped build his net worth. Some of his projects include “The Siege”, “Rounders”, and “You’ve Got Mail”.

Messina’s next project would be the JJ Abrams-directed pilot for “Anatomy of Hope”. but the series was not picked up. Still, his popularity was growing and he starred in “Devil” which was produced by M. Night Shyamalan. – the 2010 film received mixed reviews with critics praising the performances while criticizing the story. In the same year, he starred in “Monogamy” which would win the Best New York Narrative at the Tribeca Film Festival. He then appeared in the series “Damages” during the fourth and fifth seasons, before a recurring role in “The Newsroom” and then finding a regular role in “The Mindy Project” in which he played Dr. Danny Castellano. Thanks to all of these projects, his net worth increased even more.

In 2014, Chris made an appearance in the music video “I’m Not the Only One” by Sam Smith, as the cheating spouse. He also had directing work in the same year, working on the independent film “Alex of Venice” which starred Mary Elizabeth Winstead, his directing debut which found limited release in theaters. One of his latest projects is the film “Live by Night” which was directed by Ben Affleck; the crime drama film is based on the novel of the same name and was released in 2016, but proved unsuccessful at the box office.

For his personal life, it is known that Messina married actress Rosemarie DeWitt in 1995, but they divorced in 2006. He is in a relationship with producer Jennifer Todd, and they have two children. Aside from these, Messina is a known supporter of the Democratic party.

Quote
1 [his philosophy of working with actors] One of the requirements for me was ‘I won’t say no to you if you don’t say no to me’.
2 [on directing ‘Alex in Venice’] I didn’t want this to be a vanity piece. I was concerned about that. I wanted to be taken seriously as someone who wants to direct, and it wasn’t just to give myself a part. I’m happy I did it because I learned a lot about acting and directing that I would carry to the next film, if I had a bigger part.
3 [on participating in the Tribeca Film Festival, 2014] I grew up with Robert De Niro on my wall. He and Pacino and Hoffman were reason I wanted to be an actor, so to be part of his film festival means a lot to me.
