A young girl survived a shooting that killed her mother and another woman at a residence in Houston.

As Click2Houston reports, responding officers found two deceased women at the 4800 block of Jarmese Street early Saturday morning, along with one of the victim’s daughters, who had reportedly been pretending to sleep next to her mother on a couch during the shooting. It is unclear if the mother and daughter were pretending to sleep together, or at what point the mother was shot.

The report indicates the girl may have still been pretending to sleep when officers arrived. Authorities have not released any further details about the fatal shooting, inclding victim identification or suspect information.

An investigation is ongoing, and police are working to obtain a search warrant for the residence.
