A Nevada woman was sentenced to eight to 20 years on Friday for fatally pushing an elderly man off a bus in March 2019.

The Las Vegas Review-Journal reported that Cadesha Bishop, 28, pleaded guilty in December 2021 to abuse of an older or vulnerable person resulting in death. Bishop was initially charged with murdering Serge Fournier, 74, who landed on his head after Bishop pushed him off the parked Regional Transportation Commission bus.

Witnesses said Bishop was cursing at other riders when Fournier told her “to be nicer to the passengers.” Surveillance footage showed Fournier walking off the bus when Bishop forcefully pushed him from behind, causing him to land about eight feet from the doorway, the Review-Journal reported.

Authorities said Bishop pushed Fournier with such force that none of his feet touched the stairs before he landed on the sidewalk.

Surveillance footage also showed Bishop grabbing her son’s hand and leaving without offering Fournier any help. The victim died about a month after the assault.

Following her arrest in May 2019, Bishop was charged with grand larceny of a vehicle, embezzlement, and theft for failing to return a car after the rental agreement ended. The Review-Journal reported that prosecutors are moving to drop those charges due to negotiations in the abuse case.
