The daughter of a former Kentucky legislator was shot and killed during a home invasion during which her father was reportedly present.

According to the Courier Journal, Jordan Morgan, the daughter of former legislator C. Wesley Morgan and reportedly an attorney herself, was fatally shot early Tuesday morning by a suspect who apparently broke into the home. The victim’s father, who previously worked for for former Republican Governor Matt Bevin, was at the residence, which he owns, according to an Associated Press report.

It is unclear if Jordan Morgan lived at the home or if she was visiting at the time of the deadly home invasion.

According to a social media post from the Kentucky Trial Court Review, Jordan Morgan was an attorney who recently began working at the law firm Reminger.

Kentucky State Police Trooper Robert Purdy told The Associated Press that detectives are in the “very early stages, preliminary stages of the investigation.”

It is unclear if a suspect has been identified or is in custody. This is a developing story.
