Florida police are looking for a hit-and-run driver who left a 5-year-old boy in critical condition Monday night.

The Florida Highway Patrol said the boy was on his bike at about 7 p.m. on the west side of Jennings, a tiny town near the Florida-Ge0rgia state line, when he was hit by a 2011 to 2014 Ford Edge.

The driver fled the scene, WCTV said.

Troopers said they don’t know the color of the vehicle, but it “should have damage to the front headlight assembly on the passenger side.”

The injured boy was taken to Shands Hospital in Gainesville, nearly an hour and a half away for treatment.

Anyone who has any information should call the Florida Highway Patrol Communications Center in Jacksonville at 1-800-387-1290 or your local Crime Stoppers hotline.
