Bella Hadid is one of the most well-known models in the world. Although many fans are curious about her love life, the 25-year-old can be rather private about her relationship. She is currently dating art director Marc Kalman, and she recently opened up about him, calling him her “emotional support bunny.”
When did Bella Hadid and Marc Kalman begin dating?
Hadid and Kalman were first linked in the summer of 2020 when they were spotted out and about together. Then, in July of 2021, Hadid shared a photo of her and Kalman hugging, which seemed to confirm their romance.
According to E! News, a source shared that, prior to dating, Hadid and Kalman “had met before in New York City while working.”
“He has been the creative behind many fashion projects and they have crossed paths several times,” the insider added.
Additionally, the source alleged at the time that Hadid had already introduced him to mom Yolanda Hadid and sister Gigi Hadid, and the family reportedly “all approve and love him.”
Bella Hadid calls Marc Kalman her ‘emotional support bunny’
Kalman recently took photos of Hadid while she was preparing for the 2022 Met Gala, and the couple shared those intimate shots with Interview Magazine. Hadid also opened up about her relationship with Kalman.
“I mean, obviously, I’m super comfortable and feel very safe with Marc,” she said. “He does this funny thing where he puts the camera down by his belly, so sometimes I literally don’t even know that he’s taking a photo. He’s very much in the moment, takes one photo, and that’s the photo you get, which I think is interesting and fun.”
Hadid added, “These photos are really personal because I don’t let people in my space like that. We really keep a lot of photos for ourselves, but you know, when Melzy [Mel Ottenberg, editor-in-chief of Interview] asks, we gotta deliver. I’m just really excited that these are gonna be out and about, and I’m really proud of Marc, who’s like my emotional support bunny and is incredibly talented at everything he does. So yeah, it worked out well.”
Bella Hadid says being private has helped her relationship
While some fans would like for Hadid to share more information about her romance with Kalman, the model and her beau seem fine with keeping things on the down-low. Speaking to Vogue in 2022, Hadid shared that this has been beneficial for their relationship.
“I think that’s why things have been able to last,” she said. “When you give other people room to have opinions on things that are so personal to you, it poisons it.”
This seems to be different than Hadid’s previous relationship with The Weeknd, which was a lot more high-profile. They often attended events together and posted shots of each other on social media. Hadid and The Weeknd dated on-and-off from 2015 until 2019.
