English garden designer Joe Swift was born on May 25, 1965, to his parents, father Clive Swift and mother, Margaret Drabble. Born in Newcastle upon Tyne, United Kingdom, Joe holds an English nationality.

His father, Clive, was an actor, and he was the nephew of David Swift, an English actor known for his portrayal of Henry Davenport in the topical comedy “Drop the Dead Donkey”.

His mother, Margaret, is an English novelist, biographer, and critic. Her first novel was published in 1963. She is the recipient of the John Llewellyn Rhys Memorial Prize in 1966 for The Millstone.

She also won the James Trait Black Memorial Price in 1967 for her book Jerusalem the Golden. Jow was raised alongside his two siblings, a brother Adam Swift and a sister Rebecca Swift.

Adam is a British political philosopher and sociologist specializing mostly in debates circulating liberal egalitarianism. Joe’s sister Rebecca was a well-known British poet and essayist who co-founded The Literacy Consultancy in 1996.

Sadly, Rebecca passed away in April 2017.
