Topline

Prosecutors in New Mexico plan to drop all charges against actor Alec Baldwin for his role in the deadly shooting that killed cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on the set of the movie Rust in October 2021, his attorneys told multiple news outlets Thursday.

Key Facts

The actor’s lawyers told NBC and ABC they are “pleased with the decision to dismiss the case against Alec Baldwin and we encourage a proper investigation into the facts and circumstances of this tragic accident.”

Baldwin, who was charged with two counts of involuntary manslaughter after shooting Hutchins, previously pleaded not guilty and claimed he did not pull the gun’s trigger.

It’s unclear whether charges against the movie’s armorer Hannah Gutierrez-Reed were also dropped.

Spokespeople for Baldwin and the New Mexico District Attorney did not immediately respond to Forbes’ request for comment.

This is a developing story and will be updated.
