A Nevada man was found decapitated by his mother earlier this month, leading police to arrest the victim’s girlfriend.

On August 7, the body of 47-year-old Johnathan Willette was found by his mother inside a home in Henderson, a southeast suburb of Las Vegas.

Willette’s body was reportedly wrapped in blankets on a bed. His head, however, was missing and investigators have yet to recover it, the Las Vegas Review-Journal reports.

Authorities on Tuesday arrested Willette’s 45-year-old girlfriend, Devyn Michaels, who was booked on one count of open murder, according to KSNV-TV.

Michaels and the victim reportedly have two daughters together, even though she also is married to Willette’s adult son.

The adult son told police that “their marriage is not a typical marriage and that they got married so he could help Devyn with her medical issues,” according to a police report obtained by the newspaper.

In an interview with police, Michaels alleged that the victim abused her and forced a child to “take showers in front of him,” according to KLAS-TV. It was not clear whether police have substantiated the woman’s allegations.

Michaels told police that the victim “tried to get her to conduct a sexual act on him” as she was rubbing his back while in bed, so she struck him in the head using a wooden stick, according to the Review-Journal.

“Devyn stated that she did not want to kill Johnathan and only wanted to hurt him enough that he would have to go to the hospital because she wanted him out of the way so she could figure out what she could do with her children,” an arrest report states, according to the Review-Journal.

Michaels then said she put a blanket over Willette’s body and told his mother that he was drunk in bed before she exited the home.

Police obtained footage from a security camera showing Michaels’ vehicle leaving the residence shortly after 2 a.m. on the day Willette’s body was discovered.

Michaels has not admitted to decapitating her boyfriend. The man’s mother reported that a meat cleaver was missing from the home’s kitchen.
