Jurgen Klopp is ‘not available’ for the vacant Germany head coach job, his agent has confirmed.

The Liverpool manager’s agent, Marc Kosicke, said that he would be honouring his contract with Liverpool, which expires in June 2026.

The Germany job became up for grabs when Hansi Flick was sacked on Sunday following a humiliating 4-1 home defeat to Japan.

Klopp has been among the favourites for the position, amongside Julian Nagelsmann, Matthias Sammer, and Oliver Glasner. The German FA will reportedly hold talks with the former two.

He has expressed interest in the role in the past and fans have long thought that managing his country would be the perfect way to follow his work at Liverpool.

In an interview with Sky Germany over the summer, Klopp said: ‘The job of national coach is and would be a great honour – there’s no question about that. The problem that stands in the way of the whole thing is my loyalty.’

He added: ‘Basically, it’s an interesting job. But I don’t know yet whether I’ll do something completely different after I leave Liverpool. I want to keep my options open.’

The German national team has struggled for clarity and competence for some time, both on and off the pitch.

They were eliminated from the 2018 and 2022 World Cups in the group stages – a fary cry from when they won under Joachim Low in 2014.

Amazon’s All or nothing documentary on their debacle in Qatar exposed Flick and the team’s inability to properly connect with each other.

In one tactical meeting, Flick turns to his coaching staff and players and says: ‘This isn’t the team I imagined, honestly.’

Players looked disinterested in one snippet as he tried to motivate them by showing them clips of geese working together to become stronger.

However, under interim head coach and legendary striker Rudi Voller, they beat France 2-1 on Tuesday evening.

Voller has ruled himelf out of contention for the job.
