U.S. men’s national team captain Tyler Adams has made a major step in his recovery from injury and could finally be in line to make his debut for Bournemouth soon after completing a move to the Cherries over the summer.

The 24-year-old was seen sprinting on a field by himself via his Instagram stories on Tuesday, sharing as a caption to the post: ‘back soon’.

Adams hasn’t kicked a ball since injuring his hamstring in May, as he was forced to watch Leeds suffer relegation from the sidelines.

The midfielder initially hurt his hamstring in March before suffering a setback two months later.

He joined Bournemouth last month with 11 days to go before the summer transfer window shut.

The transfer fee was undisclosed although it’s been reported that the deal was worth up to £24million ($30.5M).

At first, Adams was keen on a move to West London club Chelsea but the deal didn’t go through as planned, despite the American undergoing a medical with the Blues.

The Cherries will take on Chelsea on September 17 as they look for their first win of the season following a 2-2 draw against Brentford, a 2-0 defeat to Tottenham and a 3-1 loss to Liverpool.

The USMNT emerged victorious against Uzbekistan and Oman this month without Adams.

Both matches were considered as friendlies.

Adams will be hoping to be fit for the USA’s next round of international games in October, first against Germany before facing Ghana.
