A group of Manchester United fans based in the United States of America have flown a banner reading ‘Glazers Out’ over the Raymond James Stadium in Florida.

A plane carrying the message went over the ground ahead of Monday’s Monday Night Football game between the Tampa Bay Buccaneers – who are owned by the Glazers – and the Philadelphia Eagles.

It’s the latest move in a series of protests organised by United fans to try and push the Americans to sell the club.

The banner was organised by the United Pittsburgh and Tampa supporters groups, who were praised for their efforts on social media.

‘ITS UP! #GlazersOut. Flying high in Tampa Bay for tonight’s Monday Night Football game. Let them hear us everywhere!’ one supporter said on X.

‘Can we start to organise this as a regular occurrence?’ another asked.

‘Fantastic work!’ a third exclaimed. ‘We need more.’

The Mail on Sunday reported that the Glazers were set to take United off the market in a blow to supporters who are desperate to see the back of the Americans despite bids from Sheikh Jassim and Sir Jim Ratcliffe.

Both bids were around the £5bn mark, some way short of the Glazers’ valuation, and the Americans are believed to be considering waiting until 2025, when they claim they can get up to £10bn for the club.

Neither bidder has been told of any change, however, and the process remains ongoing.

Fans have grown increasingly frustrated over the takeover process, launched in November, and the lack of clarity coming from United and the Glazer family. Many are fearful the Glazers, who have not put a penny of their own money into United since their controversial purchase in 2005, will remain in charge.

Along with their ownership issues, United have been plagued by issues regarding the playing squad, from on-the-pitch performances to players taking time away from football for various reasons.

Prior to a welcome but nervy 1-0 win over Burnley in the Premier League on Saturday, Erik ten Hag’s side had lost three games in a row, including back-to-back league defeats to Arsenal and Brighton and a Champions League loss to Bayern Munich.

Jadon Sancho has been training on his own after a public fallout with Ten Hag, effectively calling his manager a liar on social media after he had been criticised for his training performance.

Antony, meanwhile, continues to take time away from the squad after being accused of domestic violence, which he denies.
