Casemiro returned to Manchester United training and could be involved against Copenhagen in Tuesday’s Champions League at Old Trafford as he nears a return from injury.

United supporters will be delighted to see the Brazilian back involved in team training after he missed their weekend victory against Sheffield United.

The combative midfielder remained in Brazil for an extended period after the international break due to an injury he suffered in the South American nation’s 2-0 defeat against Uruguay.

Scott McTominay deputised in his absence at Bramall Lane and will be hoping to keep his place given the Scotland international’s recent terrific goalscoring form for club and country.

Casemiro has recovered from his ankle injury and joined in a variety of team drills during Monday’s training session at the club’s Carrington complex.

He was all smiles with Portuguese full-back Diogo Dalot – who scored the winning goal against Sheffield United – as the pair warmed up with one another.

The 31-year-old also joined in with the wider team as United’s stars were put through their paces by Ten Hag and his coaching team throughout the early afternoon.

Meanwhile, there was further good news in the form of Tyrell Malacia also being involved back in training as he nears a return following a long-term layoff.

The Netherlands international has been absent for the entirety of the season after undergoing surgery on a knee injury, but was seen taking part in light individual drills on his own away from the first-team.

Ten Hag hopes to welcome Malacia back into the fray soon given the absence of Luke Shaw, while Segio Reguilon has struggled to stay fit since joining on a short-term loan in the summer.
