Lisandro Martinez has told Man United fans to be ‘patient’ with his foot injury after he undertook a second round of surgery on a recurring issue.

Last month the Argentinian centre-back aggravated a metatarsal injury he first suffered in April and underwent a surgery which could see him sit on the sidelines until next year.

Since his absence, the Red Devils have endured a horrid run of form, including successive 3-0 defeats at home to Manchester City and Newcastle.

Speaking to TNT Sports Argentina, he said: ‘I am in the process of recovery and happy to be here visiting the club. It is the second time that an injury like this has happened to me. So, you have to be patient.’

Describing the situation at his club, however, former Man United star Nani has claimed this current Man United side has ‘no spirit’ and lacks a leader.

Asked what he thought about the team’s cohesion, Nani told B24: ‘When you watch Manchester [United] play, you see there is no spirit of sacrifice, there isn’t that determination.

‘There is not that leading player who says, ‘We have to win! We have to run with the ball and put it in the back of the net.”

Gary Neville also warned Ten Hag that he could get sacked after overseeing the club’s worst start to a season since the 1962-63 campaign.

United lost five of their first 10 home games at Old Trafford for the first time since 1930-31.

‘Last night we saw the Theatre of Dreams turn into the Theatre of Nothing. Every single United fan bored and flat,’ Neville wrote on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter.
