Federico Valverde has signed a new contract with Real Madrid that will see him stay at the club until 2029.

The 25-year-old midfielder has become a key part of Carlo Ancelotti’s side in Madrid.

The Uruguayan has played 220 games for the club, winning nine trophies including the Champions League and two LaLiga titles.

An official club statement read: ‘Real Madrid CF and Fede Valverde have agreed to extend the player’s contract, which remains linked to the club until June 30, 2029.

‘Valverde arrived at Real Madrid in July 2016, when he was only 18 years old. In his six seasons defending the first team shirt he is already one of the best midfielders in the world.’

Valverde, who joined the club from Uruguayan side Penarol, will see his salary increase.

His release clause – which currently stands at €1bn – will also reportedly be raised, according to The Athletic.

Madrid have reportedly been attempting to get their star players to sign new contracts with the club amid interest from clubs in the Premier League and Saudi Pro League.

And forming a partnership with England’s new superstar Jude Bellingham for Los Blancos, there is a perfect blend of new and old in the team as the duo continue to impress alongside experienced heads such as Toni Kroos and Luka Modric.
