Fans have crowned Kai Havertz the ‘new Ozil’ after he copied the ex-Arsenal playmaker’s trademark Instagram catchphrase.

Havertz captioned his celebratory post with #YaGunnersYa after his uplifting Champions League performance against Lens, prompting an enthusiastic response from supporters.

He scored his second goal in as many games to spark a 6-0 rout at the Emirates, running the midfield on a historic night for Arsenal.

Ozil spent seven seasons in north London, racking up 44 goals and 79 assists, and Havertz will hope to emulate his fellow German after his £65million summer move from Chelsea.

Arsenal fans raved about Kai Havertz's stellar showing in the 6-0 win over Lens as well as his adoption of Mesut Ozil's #YaGunnersYa caption

He had a difficult start to life at Arsenal, being criticised for wayward passing, but he seems to have finally found his feet.

Havertz has scored in the last couple of games and is looking increasingly confident in his performances.

He opened the scoring on Wednesday night before Gabriel Jesus, Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Martinelli, Martin Odegaard, and Jorginho swept in with strikes of their own.

One user wrote beneath his Instagram post: ‘Unleashing his potential at Arsenal’.

‘King Kai’, wrote another, adding a simmering fire emoji for good measure.

‘Kai using #yagunnersya like his hero Ozil’, one added.

‘Proved all the haters wrong,’ another wrote.

‘Omggg he did the Ozil #YaGunnersYa’, penned one in excitement who, by the look of the emojis they deployed, broke down in tears at Havertz’s nostalgic-inducing captioning antics.

Mikel Arteta’s men are top of the Premier League and have already made the last 16 of the Champions League after four consecutive wins in all competitions.

They will return to the knockout stages at Europe’s top table for the first time since 2016/17, when they lost 10-2 to Bayern Munich on aggregate.

Two 5-1 defeats against the Germans ranked among the darkest days in their history and ended Arsene Wenger’s long association in the Champions League with a whimper.

The sun shines much brighter on the Emirates nowadays and they have scored 15 in the competition in five games this season, conceding only three times.
