Galatasaray manager Okan Buruk has hit out at Bayern Munich accusing the Bundesliga champions of not wanting to beat FC Copenhagen while urging the Bavarians to beat Manchester United on Tuesday, December 12.

While Thomas Tuchel’s side have already qualified for the knockout stages of the Champions League, sitting top of Group A on 13 points, they failed to impress during Wednesday’s 0-0 draw against Copenhagen, as Man United drew to Galatasaray 3-3.

With one game left to play, all of United, Galatasaray and Copenhagen can still book their place in the last 16 of the tournament, but will each need other results to go their way.

And their manager, Buruk, has slammed the Bavarian outfit claiming he was unhappy Tuchel’s side failed to beat Copenhagen, after they had already secured a berth in the last 16.

‘We were disappointed that they gave up points. They rotated for the first time and it didn’t look like they wanted to win,’ Buruk said according to Bild.

With Bayern set to travel to Old Trafford this week, the 50-year-old added: ‘We want to win in Copenhagen and get our work done. I have high expectations of Bayern for the last game against Manchester.’

During the match, Bayern had nine attempts compared to Copenhagen’s eight and enjoyed more possession with the ball. They could have also had a penalty after Thomas Muller was brought down inside the box but referee Stephanie Rappart waved play on.

Galatasaray will need to beat Copenhagen to advance to the next round of the tournament but, should they lose and Man United win, they could even slip to fourth in the group and miss out on Europa League qualification.

And in a rather extraordinary outburst, Buruk has now urged Bayern to beat Man United, before claiming his side had the harshest pick of the fixtures, having to play the favourites for qualification on the third and fourth matchdays.

‘We are the unfortunate team because we had to play against Bayern on the third and fourth matchdays,’ he said recounting their recent 2-1 defeat at the Allianz Arena and their 3-1 loss in Istanbul.

Meanwhile, Erik ten Hag’s side’s hopes of qualifying for the last 16 are hanging by a thread. They can still advance to the last 16 of the tournament should they beat Bayern next week, but they will need Galatasaray and Copenhagen to draw.
