Bruce Arena is expected to be reinstated by Major League Soccer Commissioner Don Garber this week, four months after allegations of ‘insensitive and inappropriate remarks’ surfaced.

Arena was suspended by the MLS in August over the alleged remarks while he was the head coach of the New England Revolution. Arena stepped down from his post in September after being placed on administrative leave with the league’s investigation complete.

The MLS’s investigation didn’t expand on what the content of Arena’s alleged remarks were, although it ‘confirmed certain of these allegations.’ Arena’s incoming reinstatement was first reported by FOX Soccer.

Arena is expected to be in contention for one of the league’s head coaching vacancies.

Four MLS teams are without a head coach, all in the Eastern Conference. One of that quartet are the Revolution, which are unlikely hire a head coach that resigned from the same job four months ago.

The other three clubs are the New York Red Bulls, D.C. United, who parted ways with Wayne Rooney at the end of the regular season, and CF Montreal.

The only one of among the quartet that Arena hasn’t previously been the head coach for is CF Montreal. Arena was D.C. United’s inaugural coach and was at the helm of the Red Bulls from 2006-07.

Arena has also had two stints as head coach of the United States men’s national team, first from 1998-2006, then 2016-17.

Arena was the Yanks’ head coach when the team failed to make the 2018 World Cup.
