While some daily habits are incredibly easy, some can feel anything but. For me, daily oral care feels like the biggest chore. Over the years, I’ve had more than my fair share of un-stellar dental experiences, despite curbing sugar and committing to daily flossing (which I actually enjoyed), brushing, and swishing. We’re talking roughly a dozen cavities in my lifetime with multiple crowns. All this to say: I struggle with all things dental and after my crown conundrum, I felt fully adverse to flossing in fear of dislodging it or my other crown yet again. When I had the chance to test and review the Philips Sonicare Power Flosser 3000, I jumped at the chance. Maybe this tool could help me fall in love with dental care again while being gentle on my teeth? I had to at least try.

About the Philips Sonicare Power Flosser 3000

Designed with adjustable pulse wave technology, the Philips Sonicare Power Flosser lets you choose from 10 pulsation speeds to essentially power wash your teeth and gums. It comes with 550 milliliter tabletop canister that has a F1 standard nozzle (which uses a single stream of water) and F3 quad stream nozzle (which concentrates water in four powerful streams for an even more through clean), either of which can attach to the device for your desired water flossing method. You can also choose between “clean” and “deep clean” modes with a push of a button.

Dimensions

The Power Flosser 3000 measures 11.25 inches tall, 5 inches wide, and 3.75 inches deep. While that’s may not be very large, I suggest taking a second to consider whether you have the counter space in your bathroom. After all, it will need access to an outlet, so leaving it out on your counter is likely your best bet.

My Review

As I mentioned above, the Power Flosser comes with two different nozzle types. The best part about these nozzles is that they deliver precise water pulsations to the targeted area, effectively cleaning teeth without putting any downward pressure on crown edges in the process—a big win in my book. Earlier this year, before I started using the Power Flosser 3000, a crown on my right side popped clear off after some routine flossing. One word: Terrifying. Luckily the targeted water pressure from the Sonicare Power Flosser has made deep cleaning around my crowns a breeze. That peace of mind has been a game changer for my dental routine.

What I also like about the Philips Sonicare Power Flosser is that the water tank is super easy to fill and clean. Back in the day, my dad got me a handheld Waterpik that, while a great value and an effective tool, was incredibly difficult to thoroughly empty, wash, and dry since the tiny water tank only has a small opening. This led to concerns of mold. Thankfully, that’s not even on my radar with the Philips Sonicare Power Flosser, as the large, cylindrical tank sits atop the machine and is fully removable, as is its lid. That being said, if you have little room on your bathroom vanity, the cylindrical tank may be a hinderance.

What You’ll Find In the Box

Inside the box you’ll find the flosser, the water tank, an electrical cord, and two nozzles: an F1 standard nozzle and an F3 quad stream nozzle. The Sonicare Power Flosser 3000 also comes with a 2-year limited warranty.

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • Two flossing modes and ten intensity levels
  • Comes with a single stream and a quad-stream nozzle
  • Quiet operation

Cons

  • Requires an electrical outlet
  • Takes up bathroom counter space

Is the Philips Sonicare Power Flosser 3000 Worth It?

If you don’t like (or have a hard time with) traditional flossing, I believe the Philips Sonicare Power Flosser 3000 is well worth the cost. You do need to consider whether or not you have the counter space for the tank. But if you do, the two nozzles and range of intensity levels make for a seriously cleaning experience that might just change how you feel about your dental routine.

Suffice to say, I’ve finally found a flossing solution that doesn’t threaten my crowns or lead to concerns of bacterial growth. In short, I’m a fan. Perhaps you will be, too.
