AC Milan winger Christian Pulisic broke the record of one of his USMNT teammates to become the highest-single-season scoring American in Serie A.

Pulisic opened the scoring for Milan in the 59th minute of the contest against Sassuolo. It proved to be the lone goal on the day as Milan sit third in the Serie A table.

In doing so, he set a new record for Americans in the Italian top flight – scoring his sixth goal in the league.

Pulisic has been a sensation for Milan since his arrival there this summer from Chelsea.

He’s currently the team’s second-leading scorer behind striker Olivier Giroud, who has nine to his name.

Pulisic scored in both the opening games of the season at Bologna then again at home against Torino.

He hit a bit of a dry spell before scoring in consecutive games again against Lazio and Genoa.

Pulisic’s most recent goal in Serie A before this game came against Frosinone in a 3-1 victory at home.

In addition to Serie A, Pulisic bagged a goal in a crucial 2-1 win over Newcastle United that secured a Europa League spot in a closely contested Champions League Group F.
