Kylian Mbappe would reportedly consider moving to Liverpool when his Paris Saint-Germain contract expires this summer, in what would be a massive blow to Real Madrid.

The French superstar, 25, is officially free to negotiate with foreign clubs as of January 1 as he enters the final six months of his PSG deal.

Real have always been considered the favourite to sign Mbappe on what would be a free transfer.

The French newspaper add Mbappe is ‘not indifferent’ to moving to Anfield, with Jurgen Klopp apparently unwavering in his pursuit of one of the world’s best players.

With Mohamed Salah’s contract at Liverpool expiring in 2025 and Saudi Pro League teams chasing the Egyptian, Liverpool reportedly ‘dream’ of replacing him with Mbappe.

Le Parisien suggest Liverpool regard Mbappe as the kind of statement signing they need to keep pace with Manchester City in the years to come.

But the paper was also keen to stress how leaving PSG would make little sense for Mbappe, given how everything at the Parc des Princes is tailored to his needs.

There is also scepticism Real’s tactics will have the desired effect and even that they can afford his wages.

The Mbappe transfer saga has taken another twist after his mother Fayza Lamari became his agent again.

She is expected to play a central role in deciding the French star’s future as he enters the final six months of his Paris Saint-Germain contract.

Back in October, Spanish newspaper Marca reported that Lamari was no longer representing her son because of FIFA’s new regulations for agents.

World football’s governing body wanted to implement a licence system for player agents, which would cap the amount of commission they earn on transfer fees and salaries.

Marca said Lamari was no longer listed on FIFA’s Agent Directory, meaning she could play no role in negotiations over his move.

However, as reported by Spanish outlet Relevo, Lamari will now be able to represent Mbappe after FIFA put a freeze on the licensing requirement.

Those agents who failed the tough examinations have been given a reprieve for the time being, though further exam sittings are planned for May and November 2024.

A FIFA statement read: ‘We recommend that all member associations temporarily suspend the equivalent of their national football agent regulations, unless they conflict with the mandatory rules of the law applicable in their territory.

‘FIFA remains convinced that they are an instrument necessary, proportionate and fully legal regulatory framework to address systemic failures within the international transfer system.’

The Athletic reported this week that Mbappe needs to decide his next move by mid-January after Real Madrid imposed a deadline.

The same report said some at PSG believe Real won’t be able to match the forward’s wage demands.

If he was to move to the Bernabeu, Mbappe would expect to be paid double what the club’s current stars are earning – which could cause dressing room disharmony.

Mbappe has scored 233 goals in 288 appearances for PSG since joining, initially on loan, from Monaco in 2017.
