Fans believe they’ve spotted the moment when Jason Tindall gathered Newcastle’s players for a post-match picture taunting rivals Sunderland on Saturday afternoon.

In the FA Cup tie at the Stadium of Light, the Magpies ran out 3-0 winners after a Daniel Ballard own-goal and a brace from Alexander Isak secured victory over their rivals.

Afterwards, Newcastle’s players and staff celebrated their Wear-Tyne derby win by taking a team picture in front of the travelling fans at the stadium.

However, Newcastle fans will be thrilled with the photo and it’s now seemingly been revealed which staff member organised the picture.

Fans online appeared to spot the moment where Magpies coach Jason Tindall rounded up the players and told them to take the picture in-front of the fans.

In a video on X, formerly known as Twitter, Tindall joined in with players and staff in applauding the away fans before quickly indicating that a picture should be taken.

He speaks to both Bruno Guimaraes and Jamaal Lascelles before organising the players into a line on the pitch and taking the photo.

A caption for the video read: ‘People of #NUFC surely a MBE coming #jasontindall for services to s**********!! Credit: @NewcastleFansTV. Did Tindall spontaneously have the idea or was it planned. (SAFC probably suggested it)’.

The latter part was in part reference to the decision by Sunderland owner and his directors to decorate the ground’s hospitality suites with Newcastle related signage.

Images emerged on Thursday of the suite being decorated with black and white banners, including ‘We are United’ and ‘Keep the black and white flying high’ and it caused uproar among Black Cats’ fans.

The club later apologised and admitted to a ‘serious error of judgement’ before removing the signage ahead of Saturday’s clash with their local rivals.

Sunderland did, however, prove equally as hospitable on the pitch during the Magpies’ victory.

Back in May last year, Newcastle boss Eddie Howe admitted assistant Tindall does have ‘an eye for the camera’ after a viral Twitter account said he is ‘desperate to be the centre of attention’.

In January 2023, an unknown football fan called their Twitter profile ‘Jason Tindall desperate to be the centre of attention’ and started to post memes.

Speaking on CBS Sports about his ‘eye for the camera’, Howe said: ‘That’s something that we’ve never really talked about really.

‘We’re both very active on the sidelines and I’ve encouraged Jason to be that way.

‘We were very much a partnership when we started in management – we try to do everything that we can to help the players.

‘We’re situated on the front there and in the game he gradually makes his way over [to the fourth official] because he’s on my left!

‘But he’s a great guy and he’s been brilliant for me this year.’

Tindall played almost 200 games for Bournemouth before retiring in 2011.
