Oakland’s In-N-Out Burger will be permanently closing despite its popularity.

Oakland’s only In-N-Out Burger will permanently close due to ongoing issues with crime and safety. The decision was made after customers and employees of In-N-Out Burger experienced car break-ins, property damage, theft, and armed robberies.

Despite efforts to create safer conditions, In-N-Out Burger cannot ask people to visit or work in an unsafe environment. This closure marks the first time an In-N-Out Burger location will shut down out of its approximately 400 nationwide.

Other nearby establishments to the said In-N-Out Burger such as Starbucks, a Vietnamese restaurant, and Raising Cane’s have also closed due to safety concerns.

According to a published article by Patch, the mayor of Oakland acknowledged the decrease in property crime but stated that more resources are needed to protect the area and to stop further events such as the closing of the In-N-Out Burger from happening.

In-N-Out Burger will still have active locations in other parts of the Bay Area.

1,335 Incidents Around the In-N-Out Burger Area Since 2019

In a published article by CBS News, police have recorded 1,335 incidents in and around the In-N-Out restaurant since 2019, making it the most affected location in Oakland.

Despite the popularity of the restaurant, with many customers dining in and using the drive-thru, there have been numerous car break-ins in the parking lot.
