Real Madrid have announced that Eder Militao has signed a new four-and-a-half year contract with the club.

Militao is currently on the sidelines having torn his ACL early on in the 2023/24 season, but has proven a key player for Los Blancos since his 2019 move from Porto.

Madrid have been linked with various defenders during centre-back Militao’s absence, but they have reaffirmed their commitment to him in the long-term with a new contract.

“Real Madrid CF and Eder Militao have agreed to extend their player’s contract with the club until 30 June 2028,” the club said in a statement.

“Militao joined Real Madrid in 2019, aged 21, and in his five seasons wearing our jersey he’s become one of the best centre-backs in the world.

“He’s won nine trophies with Real Madrid: one Champions League, one Club World Cup, one European Super Cup, two Spanish Leagues, one Copa del Rey and three Spanish Super Cups.

“Militao has made 143 appearances with our team, scoring 11 goals, and is a Brazil international, having featured 30 times and winning the Copa America in 2019.”

Militao becomes the latest Madrid star to extend their stay with the club, with Vinicius Junior, Eduardo Camavinga and Rodrygo Goes all putting pen to paper on new deals already this season.

Madrid have done well to cope with Militao out of the side so far this season, winning the Supercopa de Espana and sitting a point behind surprise La Liga leaders Girona.
