Olivia Announced the Divorce

Fans noticed cracks in Ethan and Olivia’s relationship soon after the two wed when Olivia clashed with Ethan’s family, especially his mom, Kim Plath. Both parties announced their divorce the same day on Instagram.

“Ethan and I have decided to go our separate ways,” Olivia wrote. “I have ambivalent memories of us being 18 years old, innocently dreaming of forever – but the partner you choose is a reflection of the world you want to live in, and at 18 I didn’t know who I was or what kind of life I wanted to create for myself. 7 years later, I’ve already begun my journey of questioning, deconstructing and rebuilding and I know that is a process that I will continue to prioritize throughout my life.”

A Cryptic Comment

Fans thought the wedding photographer directed this comment towards Ethan in this since-expired Instagram Story.

“I think one of the most profound forms of love is, ‘I’ll try that for you. I may not like it, but I’ll try it,’” Olivia shared on the social media app. “It’s being willing to spend some of your time trying something new because it makes someone you love happy.”

Subtle Shade to Ethan

Olivia opened up to fans during an Instagram Story Q & A in December ​2023. One person asked about some of “must haves” for Olivia in any potential new relationships.

“Curiosity and compassion are two non-negotiables for me!” she explained. “Also, someone who knows that I’m going to change as I learn, grow and explore. Idk, that might be nice,” Olivia responded.

She then added what seemed like some subtle shade towards Ethan.

“Oh, and also wouldn’t mind splitting the cooking responsibilities,” the reality TV star said.

Fans thought the remark seemed like a dig at one of Ethan’s comments during a season 5 episode of Welcome to Plathville where he implied their marriage could’ve been saved if Olivia “was cooking meals three times a day.”

Olivia Clapped Back at a Fan Who Told Her to Change Her Name

In November 2023, Olivia posted several photos of herself alone, and one fan took the opportunity to tell her to change her last name.

“Because last names belong to men? Nah f–k that,” the TLC personality responded. “This is my name, and I don’t have to change it for anyone unless I want to.”

Another commenter urged her to do the same to which Olivia replied, “Olivia Marie Plath is my name, not his.”

A NSFW Confession

Shortly after announcing she was back on the dating scene, the TLC personality made a rare NSFW confession seemingly about her ex-husband while promoting a sex toy on social media.

“I’m hooking you all up with vibes!” Olivia wrote via Instagram in January 2024 while showing off the Bellesa AirVibe, which was advertised as the brand’s “most innovative” sex toy. “EVERYONE who signs up to my giveaway will receive either a free toy or a gift card!”

Underneath the photo, one of Olivia’s followers jokingly commented, “And it doesn’t expect you to cook three meals a day!”

Instead of ignoring the comment, Olivia chose to respond and seemingly hinted at Ethan. “And it actually makes me c-m,” she wrote, adding a playful emoji.
