A mother took matters into her own hands when she learned her underage daughter had been sexually assaulted for years, according to authorities. She grabbed a gun and went to the alleged rapist and threatened to shoot him in the groin unless he handed over a phone containing pictures and videos of his sexual assaults.
The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office in Franklin, Indiana, outside Indianapolis, arrested 45-year-old Jeremy Dwayne Blaker on several charges including rape, child molesting and child exploitation.
Detectives began investigating in April 2023 when the girl’s mother came to the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office with several electronic devices, including cellphones, according to a probable cause arrest affidavit reviewed by Law&Crime. She told detectives she was shopping at the grocery store a few days prior when she received a phone call from her daughter. The daughter sounded hysterical and said she had to tell her mother something, but couldn’t do it over the phone.
The mother went home and her daughter told her she had been having sexual intercourse with Blaker for several years and the abuse started when she was around 8 years old, the affidavit said. Blaker had recorded several of the alleged sexual assaults over the phone. The mother asked her daughter where the phone was but she couldn’t find it. That’s when the mother grabbed a gun to confront Blaker, according to the affidavit.
She pointed a gun at Blaker and asked him about the abuse. Blaker at first allegedly denied the allegations, but the victim asked: “if he was ready to tell the truth.” He then admitted to having sex with the girl, but only after she turned 16, the affidavit said.
Then the mother pointed the gun at his groin and threatened to shoot him unless he told her where he put the phone that recorded the sexual acts, the affidavit said. Blaker denied it a few times but eventually revealed the location of the phone. The mother then reportedly told Blaker to “leave and never come back.”
In an interview with detectives, the girl said the abuse started when she was about 8 years old. It allegedly started as fondling but quickly escalated to oral sex.
“[The victim] also disclosed that Blaker would coerce her into performing sexual intercourse and other sexual acts by withholding her personal cell from her as a form of punishment,” the affidavit said. [The victim] indicated ‘he just wouldn’t let me do anything if I didn’t do it for him.””
Detectives reviewed the aforementioned phone in which he allegedly took photos and videos. The earliest images are from June 2022, which is when the victim was 15. There were nearly 40 videos that showed sex acts between the two, according to investigators. A couple of the videos apparently showed Blaker forcing the victim during sex. In one she told Blaker to “no” and said “please get off of me,” the affidavit said. The videos also confirmed the girl’s allegation that he would threaten to take away her phone if she didn’t do what he asked.
Investigators tried speaking with Blaker but he requested a lawyer. The lawyer did not immediately return a message left by Law&Crime. Cops arrested Blaker on Jan. 30 and took him to the Johnson County Jail. A judge initially set his bond at $500,000 but it was lowered to $15,000 which he has posted. His next court date is scheduled for March 14.
