Brighton have confirmed the signing of highly-rated Nordsjaelland forward Ibrahim Osman after striking a £16.6m deal with the Danish top-tier side.

The 19-year-old attacking player who was wanted by West Ham in January will stay at his current club for the remainder of the season before moving to Brighton in the summer.

Brighton had to make an improved offer on West Ham’s £16m offer and have reached an agreement on a £16.6m fee with a further £2.5m due in add-ons and a 10percent sell on clause.

Osman prefers to play on the left-wing but can be utilised across the whole frontline, making him a versatile attacking asset to Brighton boss Roberto de Zerbi.

The Italian frequently changes Brighton’s playing system depending on the opponent they are facing and Osman’s ability to also play as a lone striker makes him a useful asset.

Osman has made 29 appearances for Nordsjaelland so far this season, scoring four goals and registering five assists in all competitions, with the club fifth in the Danish top-flight.

He follows the same career path as current Brighton star Simon Adingra who joined FC Nodsjaelland from Ghana’s Right to Dream academy before moving to the English Premier League club.

Commenting on the confirmed deal for Osman,  Brighton technical director David Weir told the club’s official website: ‘We’re looking forward to the opportunity of working with Ibrahim.

‘He’s a young and exciting prospect, but for now it’s important that we give him the space to focus fully on Nordsjaelland, where he is enjoying a good season.

‘Once the current season is over and he’s had the opportunity to rest during the summer, we will bring him into our environment where he will get the time and support he needs to settle here in England.’
