Wolves star Pedro Neto is set to be sold by the club this summer in a bid to finance new transfers and meet the Premier League’s financial regulations, according to reports.

The Portuguese winger is having a fantastic season at Molineux after scoring twice and providing eight assists from 15 Premier League outings, with the player garnering interest from a number of top sides over the years.

The 23-year-old is in his fifth season at Wolves and has become a key figure for the club, starting 14 games under Gary O’Neil in this campaign.

The club are looking to bring in a striker, centre-back and another winger this summer, the report adds, but one of their A-list players will have to be sacrificed in order to do so the comply with the Premier League’s rules.

Everton and Nottingham Forest have already been charged with breaching the league’s strict Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR) and clubs are treading extra carefully in order to stay clear from trouble.

The January transfer window was unusually quiet, with less than £100m spent as clubs look to balance the books before the summer.

With Wolves close to breaking even on PSR, they must rake in more money on a big name in order to spend, the report adds, with Neto a leading name to generate some cash for the club.

It claims that Neto would have been snapped up by a major side years ago had it not been for his injury problems, with Arsenal long-term admirers.

It also says Tottenham – who Wolves will face this weekend – are ‘keen to do business’ and bring him to north London too.

Liverpool is also a possible destination, with Neto an ‘obvious candidate’ to replace Mohamed Salah should the Egyptian leave Anfield.

Neto is looking to make up for lost time this season after suffering a number of crippling injuries that have disrupted his progress at Molineux, including a broken knee cap in 2021.

He has two goals and one assist in his last four games during a sparkling period of top form, including playing a crucial role in the club’s famous 4-2 win away at Chelsea earlier this month.
