Napoli’s hopes of advancing in the Champions League were dashed as they suffered a 3-1 defeat against Barcelona, to exit the competition.

Despite a strong start from Napoli, it was Barcelona who took the lead through Fermin Lopez’s well-placed shot from 12 yards.

The Italian side tried to respond but found themselves caught on the counter, allowing Joao Cancelo to double Barcelona’s lead.

Napoli managed to pull one back through Amir Rrahmani’s goal, but they squandered a chance to equalize when Marc-Andre ter Stegen denied Giovanni Di Lorenzo’s header with a fine save.

Napoli continued to push for an equalizer, with Kvicha Kvaratskhelia and Matteo Politano coming close, but their efforts were in vain.

Barcelona sealed the win late in the game through Robert Lewandowski’s goal.

Despite late efforts from Napoli, including a shot that hit the crossbar from Mathias Olivera, they were unable to find the back of the net again.
