Cyriel Dessers and Ademola Lookman emerged Nigeria’s heroes against a tough Ghana side in a friendly match in Marrakesh, Morocco.

Dessers broke the deadlock in the first half, with a 38th minute spot kick, to give the Super Eagles the lead.

In the second half, Finidi George’s men struggled to keep up pace, as Ghana fought for an equaliser.

The Black Stars hopes were shattered after Jerome Opoku was shown a red card in the 56th minute.

Nigeria solidified their lead with a fine finish by Atalanta forward, Ademola Lookman, six minutes before full time.

However, Ghana fought their way through to pull one back, courtesy of an added time strike by Crystal Palace’s Jordan Ayew.

Despite the effort, Ayew’s late goal was insufficient to turn things around for Ghana, who lost their first friendly against Nigeria for the first time, since 2014.

The encounter also marked coach George’s first game in charge of the Super Eagles.
