MOUNTAIN BROOK, Ala. (WIAT) — A Birmingham woman has been charged in a crash that left a man dead in Mountain Brook last month.
Hannah Gray Williams, 30, was arrested Thursday and charged with reckless manslaughter and leaving the scene of an accident with injuries following a fatal crash that happened along Montclair Road on Oct. 12.
According to the Mountain Brook Police Department, the crash occurred in the 3900 block of Montclair Road, where a driver had been ejected from his car. The victim, identified as Robert Ashley May, Jr., later died at UAB Hospital.
The MBPD reports that witnesses claimed a second vehicle was involved in the crash, but fled the scene before police arrived. The driver of the second vehicle, which was later identified as Williams, had allegedly been engaged in “dangerous and reckless driving” that caused to the crash.
Detectives with the Mountain Brook Police Department worked to identify the driver of the second vehicle, and the case was presented to the Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office on Thursday, Nov. 14.
Warrants were issued to Hannah Gray Williams, 30, of Birmingham, for Reckless Manslaughter and Leaving the Scene of an Accident with Injuries.
