Cleveland Fire provides update on BYRIGHT Car Dealership arson investigation

Cleveland fire told 3News that Tuesday’s scheduled demolition of the damaged buildings has been cancelled.

CLEVELAND — Cleveland Fire is continuing to investigate the blaze that happened on Dec. 9, 2024, at West 48th Street and Lorain Avenue, severely damaging two buildings, including the BYRIGHT Car Dealership.

The fire, which also destroyed multiple vehicles, was determined to be arson. On Monday morning, fire officials shared that investigators are still working to identify those responsible.

Cleveland fire told 3News that Tuesday’s scheduled demolition of the damaged buildings has been cancelled. 

Officials are once again asking the public for assistance in solving the case.

“This is still an active investigation,” said Cleveland Fire PIO Lt. Mike Norman. “We have made progress, but still believe someone has valuable information regarding the cause of the fire and the driver of the vehicle in question.”

A reward of up to $7,500 is being offered for information leading to an arrest in connection with the arson. Investigators are seeking information on a silver 2013 Chevy Suburban LT that was seen near the scene. The vehicle has a roof rack, sunroof, tinted windows and a white decal on the rear window.
