U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has arrested Gurdev Singh, a 23-year-old Indian national, in French Camp, California, as part of a targeted criminal enforcement operation.

Singh, who illegally entered the United States, was taken into custody on March 12th.

“ICE welcomes partnerships between federal and local law enforcement,” said ERO San Francisco acting Field Office Director Polly Kaiser. “Leveraging professionalism, dedication to public safety, and combined investigative resources saves lives and makes not only the U.S. a safer nation, but those from which criminal aliens come.”

Singh illegally entered the U.S. at an unknown location and date, without admission or parole by U.S. immigration authorities. He was initially encountered by U.S. Border Patrol near Lukeville, Arizona, on September 2, 2023, and subsequently released on his own recognizance with a notice to appear before an immigration judge.

Subsequent investigations identified Singh as being associated with transnational criminal organizations and revealed that he was known to illegally carry firearms and was actively involved in criminal activity both in the U.S. and abroad.

Prior to his ICE arrest, the California Highway Patrol arrested Singh on March 6th for carrying a loaded firearm in public, not being the registered owner of a loaded firearm, possession of a stolen vehicle, and child endangerment. A subsequent search warrant resulted in the discovery of seven additional firearms at Singh’s residence and two more in a vehicle on the property.

ICE lodged a detainer request with the San Joaquin Sheriff’s Office upon learning of Singh’s custody, but the sheriff’s office was unable to honor the request. ICE then took Singh into custody without incident at 11 p.m. on March 12th, upon his release from San Joaquin County Jail.

Singh will remain in ICE custody pending removal proceedings.
