The New York Giants have signed quarterback Russell Wilson to a one-year contract, according to multiple reports.

The deal includes $10.5 million guaranteed for Wilson, with a potential to earn $21 million, according to both NFL Network and ESPN.

Wilson, 36, played in 11 games for the Pittsburgh Steelers last season, completing 63.7% of his passes for 2,482 yards with 16 touchdowns and five interceptions. Wilson posted a 6-5 record in his 11 starts for the Steelers, his first season with a record above .500 since 2020.

The Giants will be the third team Wilson has played for in three seasons. Before his lone year in Pittsburgh, Wilson was a member of the Denver Broncos from 2022 to 2023.

New York started last season with Daniel Jones at quarterback before releasing the former first-round pick last November. The other quarterbacks currently on the Giants’ roster are Tommy DeVito and the recently signed Jameis Winston.

Once a perennial MVP candidate, Wilson’s play has declined in the last few seasons.

From 2015 through 2020, Wilson threw at least 30 touchdown passes in five of six seasons. Since 2021, Wilson has not thrown for more than 26 in a single year. He has also not posted a passer rating above 100 since 2021.

Last offseason, Wilson signed a one-year deal with the Steelers after the Broncos incurred an $85 million salary-cap penalty to release him. Wilson earned more than $37 million from Denver in 2024 despite not being on the team.

Pittsburgh began last season with Justin Fields as its starting quarterback before Wilson took over after six games. Wilson went 5-1 in his first six starts, but finished the regular season 1-4. He also started the Steelers’ first-round playoff loss at the hands of the Baltimore Ravens.

A third-round pick by the Seattle Seahawks in 2012, Wilson in his career has thrown for 350 touchdowns and 46,135 yards, with a 99.8 passer rating. A 10-time Pro Bowler, he helped the Seahawks win Super Bowl 48 over the Broncos in 2014.

New York finished 3-14 last season and will have the third overall pick in the upcoming NFL Draft.
