Angelina Jolie will mark her 50th birthday on June 4, and an insider has exclusively revealed to In Touch that she plans to celebrate with her closest friends and family, who are eager to treat her like royalty on this significant day.
“Reaching this milestone is a big deal, and she’s finally agreed to let people honor her,” the source comments. “Normally, she opts to spend the day quietly at home with her children, but everyone has been encouraging her to enjoy a proper celebration.”
“While she’s not fond of being in the spotlight, she has given her children the go-ahead to organize a small party. It’ll be an intimate affair since she maintains a close-knit group,” the insider notes. “Salma Hayek will receive an invite, Ellen Pompeo remains a dear friend, and Loung Ung, whom she met two decades ago in Cambodia, is also expected to attend.”
The Salt actress has opened up in the past about growing older, especially considering her mother, Marcheline Bertrand, died from cancer in 2007 at age 56. “I do feel like an older woman now, and I embrace that,” the Maria star told British Vogue.
Angie, who underwent a double mastectomy in 2013 after genetic testing revealed she inherited a BRCA1 gene mutation, which increased her risk of developing breast cancer by 87 percent, explained that her mother’s untimely death changed her whole perception of aging. “My mom didn’t live very long, so there’s something about age that feels like a victory instead of a sadness for me,” she shared. “I’m looking forward to my fifties — I’m gonna hit my stride in my fifties.”

Since the procedure, Angie has been all about her kids and has considered their futures as young adults while occasionally being surprised at how quickly time is passing.
“We were on the trampoline the other day,” Angie added, “and the children said, ‘No, Mom, don’t do that. You’ll hurt yourself.’ And I thought, ‘God, isn’t that funny?’ There was a day I was an action star, and now the kids are telling me to get off the trampoline because I’ll hurt myself.”
The first source notes that even though hitting 50 is an important milestone for the Maleficent actress, she “doesn’t need a big bash or fancy gifts.”
“Her love language is quality time, so she has asked her kids if they can all take a trip to her place in Cambodia together, that’s what she wants for her birthday gift. They’ve all got their own busy lives, and she’s got work commitments so she’s said it doesn’t have to be on her birthday but sometime this coming year she wants them to all go together, it’s very much her happy place.”
As In Touch previously reported, the mother of six is busy wrangling her brood into agreeing on a summer vacation spot.
“Where they go is going to depend on her schedule with work. She may have a film over the summer, possibly in Europe, so depending on how things come together they may all relocate there temporarily for the summer … If she doesn’t have a shoot, then she would love to go to their place in Cambodia,” the source spilled.
