LAS VEGAS (KLAS) – Police have arrested a man in what they called a “targeted attack” at a Tesla collision center last week.

Officers arrested Paul Kim, 36, on Wednesday on charges including arson and possessing an explosive device.

The fires happened Tuesday, March 18, around 2:45 a.m.

Five cars were harmed, with two of them catching on fire. Authorities stated that they suspected the individual responsible for setting the fires had also shot at the vehicles.

“The person utilized what seemed to be various Molotov cocktails and guns to carry out the assault,” remarked Assistant Sheriff Dori Koren from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department at a recent press briefing.

The word “resist” was spray-painted on the Tesla center’s front doors. Police said an unignited Molotov cocktail was found in one of the cars.

Kim was due in court Thursday afternoon. It was not immediately clear what led to his arrest.

According to documents from the Clark County Election Department, an individual sharing the exact first name, middle name, last name, and year of birth as Kim was listed as a nonpartisan.

Last week, Tesla CEO Elon Musk referred to the fire as “terrorism.”
