GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Miko Jay Bryles, 29, was arrested yesterday and charged with 52 felonies related to possession and distribution of child pornography.

The case began with a CyberTip from Kik regarding 11 videos that were uploaded on August 25, 2024 containing child sexual abuse material (CSAM). The IP address used to upload the videos belonged to Cox Communications, and in response to a subpoena, Cox reported that Bryles was the account holder at an address located about a tenth of a mile south of the CHILD Center for Early Learning in the SWAG area.

Kik also provided chats that reportedly show the Kik account asking to trade or buy CSAM; the Kik user was looking for “young” and a “little white girl.”

A second CyberTip was received from Kik about a different Kik account that uploaded and distributed 21 CSAM videos on October 28, 2024. The upload address again reportedly belonged to Bryles. The chats sent by Kik show the user again asking to trade images showing “young,” “teen 13 plus,” “young solo girls… 10 and up?” “early teens?” and “eight and above single girl videos.” The second account also mentioned liking “silly little white girls.”

A third CyberTip was received from Kik about a third Kik account that uploaded 16 videos and one image of CSAM and distributed the material to other users on December 2, 2024. The login IP address for this Kik account was found to be a Cox Communications account owned by Bryles. Chats for this account also asked for trades for “young” material, “like 8 and up.” Another chat mentions “young boys.” That account also reportedly included eight images of Bryles and 18 images of Bryles with a woman who lives at his apartment.

According to the arrest report, the files received in response to subpoenas include more than one image of sexual battery involving a child, a movie involving a child, and sadomasochistic abuse involving a child.

The chats repeatedly referenced trying to buy CSAM, along with increasing amounts that the Kik user said he had lost after he paid for but did not receive the promised material; he kept asking for a working link before sending money, and it appears that some of the transactions fell through after the sellers declined to provide anything prior to payment.

Verizon reported that one of the IP addresses used to upload the videos to Kik was assigned to a phone number that is associated with Bryles in law enforcement databases.

On March 26, a search warrant was executed at Bryles’ apartment in the 6200 block of SW 10th Place, and deputies spoke with Bryles and two roommates.

Post Miranda, Bryles reportedly confirmed that the phone number is his and that he’s had it for about three years. He initially denied ownership of the three Kik accounts and denied possessing or distributing child pornography, but he later reportedly admitted ownership of the accounts and that he had possessed and distributed child pornography, saying he stumbled across it by accident. Bryles reportedly said he is addicted to pornography and has tried to “swear it off.”

Bryles has been charged with 49 counts of possession of child pornography and three counts of distribution of child pornography. Locally, he was previously arrested for driving without a valid license, but the charge was dropped. Judge Jonathan Ramsey set bail at $640,000.

Articles about arrests are based on reports from law enforcement agencies. The charges listed are taken from the arrest report and/or court records and are only accusations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
