Venezuelan National And Suspected Gang Member Arrested In Florida On Firearms Charge

U.S. Border Patrol’s New Orleans Sector announced the successful conclusion of Operation Magnolia, a highway interdiction enforcement operation in the Pearl, Mississippi area, resulting in the arrest of 25 individuals illegally present in the United States.

The operation, conducted between March 17-21, 2025, involved around-the-clock enforcement along Interstate 20, with assistance from the Rankin and Hinds County Sheriff’s Offices. Border Patrol agents from the New Orleans Sector were on-site to efficiently process the individuals and initiate removal proceedings.

Of the 25 individuals arrested, 22 will be processed for removal from the United States. The remaining three will face federal prosecution under 8 USC 1326, the statute regarding re-entry after deportation. The individuals apprehended originated from Mexico, Honduras, Guatemala, and El Salvador.

“These operations strengthen and enhance our nation’s border security,” stated New Orleans Border Patrol Acting Chief Adam Calderon. “We will continue to focus our enforcement efforts on these dangerous criminal networks and their smuggling operations to prevent human trafficking and other organized crime. These Border Patrol enforcement initiatives make our community safer and deter illegal aliens from attempting to break our nation’s immigration laws.”

The New Orleans Border Patrol Sector covers a vast seven-state region, encompassing 592 counties and parishes across Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Arkansas, Kentucky, Tennessee, and a portion of the Florida panhandle.

The Sector’s headquarters are located in New Orleans, with additional stations in Lake Charles, Baton Rouge, Gulfport, and Mobile.
