There have now been six arrests in Breon Allen’s murder from Jan. 24.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office has arrested two teens — who they say pulled the trigger — in the murder of 7-year-old Breon Allen in January.

Donte McGhee, 17, and Tavaris Kelly, 17 were charged with murder, attempted murder and conspiracy to commit murder.

McGhee and Kelly were escorted by officers toward Duval County Jail Friday and asked about the shooting.

“I’m sorry for their loss and I’m an innocent man,” McGhee said outside the jail when asked what he had to say to the victim’s family.

On March 12, the agency identified four suspects: Keith Fields, 18, Dannel Larkins, 20, Keith Johnson, 21, and Zharod Sykes, 24.

They received charges for second-degree murder, conspiracy to commit murder and attempted first-degree murder charges in the Jan. 24 shooting that left Allen dead and 21-year-old Lafayette Mango injured.

The shooting happened just after 5 p.m. in the area of Commonwealth Avenue and Almeda Street on the city’s Westside. Police said multiple shooters ambushed Allen and Mango, firing gunshots and killing the child.

The first four suspects were reportedly tied to rapper Foolio’s gang, 6 Block. Sheriff T.K. Waters said Friday’s arrests were the last in Allen’s murder.

“It was a targeted, planned act of bloodshed,” Waters said.

Sheriff T.K. Waters called Allen a “treasured child.” He said the killing was unnecessary, horrible and should never happen in the community.

“Breon’s parents have lost their cherished son,” Waters said. “Their grieving process will never end.”

Waters said there’s a way out of gangs. He said there’s something that people can do other than commit violence in the community.

“They don’t care about people in this community,” Waters said. “So let’s put them where they belong. Let’s not let them see the light of day ever again.”
