Family Ties star Brian Bonsall has recalled how his identity was stolen by a serial rapist he met in jail, who shockingly used his name and likeness to attack a spate of women before being locked up again for over 200 years.

The former child actor, 43, played Michael J. Fox’s younger brother, Andy Keaton, on the hit NBC sitcom before his life derailed due to alcohol and drugs.

But things took an even darker turn when Brian discovered that now-convicted rapist Nathan Loebe was using his name to lure women and abuse them.

Speaking in Child Stars Gone Violent, the first in Investigation Discovery’s documentary series Hollywood Demons, he recounted the horrific ordeal, sharing how Loebe had even copied his tattoos in a desperate bid to trick women into believing that he was the real deal.

‘I met him at 2004 in jail when I was in there for my second DUI,’ Brian remembered.

‘I was there for a couple nights or whatever and I guess he got really obsessed with me right off the bat.’

Brian shared how a girl had come up to him and said that he had dated someone for ‘months’ who went by the name Brian Bonsall and had said that he was using his name to coax others.

‘It started escalating a lot,’ he said. ‘I started to hear more stories.

‘A friend of mine was working at Coyote Ugly and she said her friend that works there dated him too, and that she was locked in a room and forced to watch porn while he did heroin.’

Brian claimed that he had sought out help from the police, but that they offered little assistance.

‘I was trying to figure out who this was,’ he continued. ‘I went to the police department in Boulder, and I filed a police report, and he was like “it is not illegal to tell somebody you’re someone else to have sex with them.”

‘Literally the response I got was “why don’t you go handle this yourself?” So, I left there with nothing but his business card and an inactive case number.’

‘This cop did not take me seriously at all,’ Brian added. ‘And maybe that was because I was borderline the town drunk at the time.’

Brian’s now-wife Courtney revealed that she had heard from several girls who thought that they had been raped by the perpetrator.

She said: ‘Early into our relationship I heard from several girls who had claimed they had been raped by Brian Bonsall.

‘We were hearing from girls in Toledo, hearing from girls in the south, so we knew he was moving around. So we contacted the FBI.’

Eventually, Loebe was caught after his DNA came up as a match on Codus (combined DNA index systems) following an attack on a woman in Kentucky.

Former prosecutor Nicol Green stated: ‘We learned there was a woman in Kentucky who was sexually assaulted by a male who identified as Brian Bonsall.

‘She then reported it to the police. I looked up Brian Bonsall and learned that he was Andy Keaton on Family Ties. I used to watch that television show all the time.

‘I was also aware that he had also sent out messages on social media saying this is not me. Evidence was taken and put into Codus, and it matched it a man named Nathan Loebe.’

‘He was arrested in Kentucky and then we discovered that Nathan Loebe was really a serial rapist,’ she added.

Brian remembered meeting Loebe in jail, recalling his ‘crazy eyes.’

‘They connected him to over 40 cases but eventually, he was convicted of seven and he was sentenced to 274 years,’ he said.

‘So, it’s really hard to tell all that story. For one, it’s hard to not cry.

‘There’s definitely a feeling of guilt. It’s so hard to explain. Those girls wanted to go on a date with me because I was a child actor. It had also clicked that I had met this person because of some of the mistakes I made.’
