A US Coast Guard Station boat crew rescued a kite surfer in distress on Saturday after strong winds and seas hindered the individual’s ability to return to shore.

The U.S. Coast Guard Station Fort Pierce reported no medical concerns for the rescued individual.

The rescue operation was initiated after a good Samaritan contacted Sector Miami watchstanders at approximately 1 p.m. to report the kite surfer’s distress.

“Our crews and partners consistently prepare to respond to these situations day and night,” said Chief Warrant Officer Ryan Randy, commanding officer of Coast Guard Station Fort Pierce. “Thanks to the good Samaritan’s prompt call for help, we were able to get on scene quickly and conduct a successful rescue before anything bad happened.”
