Refresh for latest…: As Hollywood begins to descend upon Las Vegas ahead of the start of CinemaCon tomorrow, it was a mixed bag at the international box office this weekend. Jason Statham-starrer A Working Man muscled in with a $30.2M global bow, including $15M from overseas markets, while Snow White saw a 48% drop in the offshore sophomore session.

At the same time, Gower Street Analytics has increased its global 2025 forecast to $34.1B. Though that revision is largely down to the overperformance of Chinese blockbuster Ne Zha 2, there’s plenty to look forward to on the horizon – much of which we’ll get a glimpse at and be reporting on from here in Las Vegas this week.

Looking for now at this weekend overseas, Disney’s Snow White was the top studio movie of the session, adding $22.1M from 51 offshore markets. That takes the running international total to $76.3M and global to $143.1M. No. 1s were held in Australia, Italy, Spain, UK, Brazil and Mexico. The Top 5 to date are UK ($8.7M), Mexico ($6.9M), Italy ($6.6M), France ($5.5M) and Brazil ($4.5M).

Amazon MGM Studios’ A Working Man debuted in 41 overseas markets via Warner Bros, and a further 22 where Black Bear handles. The combined international bow was $15M (including $8.8M from WB markets).

China, where Statham excels, was the top performer at $2.9M (via Black Bear) and came in roughly on par with Gladiator II and John Wick: Chapter 4. For WB, the best play was Germany at a No. 1 start of $1.4M which is ahead of several comps including 2021’s Wrath of Man (+107%). Australia opened at No. 2 with $1.1M, in line with The Beekeeper. Mexico also launched to $1.1M (No. 3), similar to The Beekeeper; and the UK started with $867K (No. 3).

WB will open Italy on April 10 while additional Black Bear markets include Saudi Arabia (March 31), Vietnam (April 4), Philippines (April 9), and Japan (January 2, 2026).

Recall that Statham’s previous David Ayer/Amazon MGM Studios team-up, The Beekeeper, proved to be a very solid performer with a nearly $163M global gross.

In other new play, India’s Malayalam-language action thriller L2: Empuraan, from director Prithviraj Sukumaran and starring Mohanlal, opened to around $20M worldwide (this is per our sources and pending more clarity as is typically the case with India). On 87 Imax screens across 14 markets, the follow-up to 2019’s Lucifer earned $1.1M including the biggest Indian opening ever for the format in the UK & Ireland and the highest-grossing Imax launch weekend of  2025 across the Middle East.

In continued play, Enlight’s Ne Zha 2 topped RMB 15B in China and has grossed upwards of $50M outside the home market (including $11.3M from Warner Bros-distributed hubs). The estimated global cume is $2.15B. The phenom has become Imax’s 2nd highest-grossing movie ever at the international box office, behind only Avatar: The Way of Water. It opens in Japan on Friday.

Ahead this week, Warner Bros/Legendary’s A Minecraft Movie starts global play.
