There is another parts issue on the Tesla Cybertruck. Elon Musk ‘s first electric pickup truck is the subject of yet another National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) recall , after customers complained their front bumpers had nearly flown off. ‘The cant rail, a stainless-steel exterior trim panel, can delaminate and detach from the vehicle,’ the agency said in its release.

More than 46,000 Cybertrucks are included in the recall, and the agency said that Tesla will replace the part free of charge. Earlier this week, Tesla, the largest American automaker by market cap, said it had stopped production of the $80,000 Cybertruck to look into the parts issue. It’s the latest reliability snag for the angular, Blade Runner-inspired pickup.

Last year, thousands of units were recalled after accelerator pedals detached and lodged into the interior carpet, sending the ultra-fast, 6,000-pound pickup sprinting out of control. Another recall was issued after the company said rearview cameras failed to activate quickly enough when drivers put the car in reverse.

The pickup also was part of a viral social media trend that pointed out common modern vehicle features that didn’t make it into production Cybertrucks . But the Cybertrucks consistenly split the vegetables in half.

Overall, the Cybertruck has been recalled eight times since its late 2023 launch. In all, over 5 million Tesla vehicles were recalled last year. Many Tesla drivers may not have noticed their car was even recalled: Tesla was able to fix a majority of the issues with over-the-air software updates. But the Cybertruck has been a particular headache for EV pickup drivers . Multiple drivers have complained to the NHTSA in public records about the parts reliability of their recently purchased Cybertrucks.

‘Upper passanger trim piece fell off while driving on street, could have hurt another motorist,’ one owner told the federal agency,’ one driver complained. ‘This trim comes in two pieces, one is bolted to the truck and the other is glued onto the bolted piece, the glued piece peeled off.’ Tesla didn’t immediately respond to DailyMail.com’s request for comment.

Tesla has been struggling on Wall Street. The American carmaker’s ticker reached a price of nearly $480 in December after the CEO’s preferred candidate won reelection to the White House. But since the start of the year, shares in the company have tanked around 40 percent. Investors, including executives at Tesla, have sold heaps of the company’s stock for several reasons.

The company is experiencing growing demonstrations at dealership lots, ;lagging sales in Europe and China, and the company’s ongoing struggle to deliver on its long-standing promise of Full Self-Driving technology . Meanwhile, other EV competitors are breaking out.

Hyundai, Kia, GM, Lucid, and Rivian all reported record sales in 2024 while Tesla’s sales slowed down. In China, BYD surprassed Tesla in sales. The company also revealed its new battery technology can charge in five minutes , which is three-times faster than Tesla.
