CLEVELAND — The Cuyahoga County Board of Elections (BOE) has announced that it has completed the process of creating ward and precinct boundaries for Cleveland in time for this year’s elections.

Because of a drop in population in the 2020 census, the number of wards in Cleveland has been reduced from 17 to 15. Cleveland City Council officially approved a new representative ward map in January. While the boundaries for Cleveland’s 17 wards remain active until January 2026 for city administrative and public services, the 15 approved wards will be utilized for all of the city’s elections, starting with May’s Primary Election. 

So how will you know where to go to vote? 

The BOE says each of the over 251,000 registered voters in Cleveland are being mailed a Voter Information Guide for the May 6, 2025 Primary Election that will include their new ward, precinct, voting location and election information. City voters will also receive a separate letter informing them of their voting location and precinct assignment in mid-April. 

In addition, new ward maps with voting locations have been posted on the Board of Elections website.

If you’re still in need of assistance, don’t worry. The Cuyahoga County Board of Elections staff will be visiting nine libraries in Cleveland this week to make sure voters are educated for the May 6 Primary Election.

Tuesday, April 1 – The BOE will hold voter education events at South Branch, South Brooklyn, Carnegie West libraries from 12:30 p.m. through 3:30 p.m.

Wednesday, April 2 – The BOE will hold voter education events at Union Branch, Martin Luther King Jr., Woodland libraries from 12:30 p.m. through 3:30 p.m.

Thursday, April 3 – The BOE will hold voter education events at Hough, Harvard-Lee, Rice libraries from 12:30 p.m. through 3:30 p.m.
