PRESIDENT Donald Trump is set to announce his strategy to reduce the cost of concert and sports event tickets by addressing the issues of ticket scalping and steep fees.

The administration is taking action against those inflating prices to profit off of fans eager to see their favorite artists and sports teams.

This Friday, Trump will sign an executive order instructing the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) to collaborate with the US Attorney General to ensure that competition laws are upheld, according to TMZ.

The order singles out increased enforcement of the BOTS Act, which bans using bots to buy up large numbers of tickets and resell them for high prices.

Trump also will enlist the Treasury and Justice departments to make sure scalpers follow the BOTS Act.

The BOTS (Better Online Ticket Sales) Act was signed into law by then-President Barack Obama in 2016.

It was first used in 2021 when the FTC sued three New York-based ticket brokers who allegedly used bots to buy tens of thousands of tickets for concerts and sporting events and then made millions in resales.

MLFootball, a football news company, called the anticipated executive order “a major win for all sports fans” on X.

‘IT’S NOT FAIR’

Trump’s order will fulfill a campaign promise to help Americans with high ticket prices.

“Your middle class, which is your biggest sports fans, are being priced out,” Trump said in November 2024 on the Let’s Go podcast.

He added: “It’s not fair.”

Trump took aim at American sports leagues who he said “are not taking care of their fans.”

“They really aren’t,” he added. “They’re making it impossible.”
